About SEYSA

Currently our webpage is undergoing a major facelift, which might occasion your browsing a certain difficulties, but we are most confident that its prospective completion should bring you the most up-to-date information of SEYSA.

Who are we?

In honour of and with memory to our late governor Sir Edward Youde, a cohort of stupendous budding scholars from different institutes as recipients of Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund (SEYMF) awards constituted SEYSA in the year 1992. In the past some two decades, thanks to its member scholars' success and promotion to the top positions of different fields, SEYSA has blossomed into a renowned organisation exerting immense influence over society.

Our Mission

SEYSA founds itself on the three 'S' principles, and designs its year-to-year running accordingly. They are:

  • Scholarship
While we Youders are most proud of our versatility and consequently the diversity the Youder community embodies, we would never forget that the cement amidst us, qua Youders, is in the first place an intellectual one. To maintain the Youder community as a constellation of the most intellectually able people as beyond a mere interest group, and for the promotion of intellectual curiosity in the general society, we regularly launch assorted forums, seminars, talks and reading groups on the most widest range of issues in response to the changing social concerns.

  • Social Awareness
We take pride in being not only elite but also non-elitist elite. It is our belief that the illustrious members of society, as we Youders are, have noblesse oblique for helping out the less fortunate. Thus, we are committed to contribute our services for the betterment of the community. By partaking in our social service programme you would not only serve the underprivileged but collaborate with elites of other celebrated organisations, the public-spirited and activists of a host of different backgrounds as well.

  • Solidarity
Among the diverse roles we play, SEYSA is first of all, a fraternity of Youders. Due to the vibrant makeup of memberships as from the most diversified backgrounds and specialisations our members come, and given the years past since the inception of SEYMF, we are deeply aware of the need for a platform for effective communication between members across different years. For this, SEYSA hold a plenary annual dinner every year, and added to which protean gatherings like spring feast, study tours, excursions and other leisure activities as for instance gold day and yachting. It is our commitment to grant members access to the extraordinary network while enjoying the congeniality we created for fellow Youders.
