SEYSA Youth Programme

Youth Programme (YP) is an experiential leadership training programme tailored for all awardees of the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Prizes. It aims at facilitating participants' personal development as well as enhancing their social awareness and responsibility.

YP provides interactive seminars and forums which enable the participants to better understand a variety of social issues and explore relevant experiences. Every YP participants will also be attached to a senior mentor with executive experience which will be an invaluable opportunity to broaden one's horizon. Furthermore, participants will be divided into groups to plan and execute a social service project. Starting from 2011, an adventure-based training camp is incorporated into YP to further strengthen participants' leadership skills.

A collection of elites. A unique chance to learn.

YP participants are selected awardees of the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Prize. They come from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of talents including but not limited to leadership, arts, science, sports, I.T., etc. Here students communicate with each other and cooperate to initiate mission, tackle challenges and execute their ideas under guidance. We believe it is a great chance for them to demonstrate their talents, realize their weakness and learn from each other humbly to become all-rounded leaders. This unique dynamic among the elites are core to YP.

A bridge between students and social leaders

Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund awards, including prizes, medals, scholarships, fellowships, either local or overseas, are conferred yearly to talents of the widest variety. We have alumni across the entire spectrum of trades and fields: law, business, medicine, social science, arts, communication, engineering, etc. In every forum or talk organized we are able to invite our alumni to join and this serves as a platform for all participants to get connected as a family.

The profound reputation of SEYSA also attracts a wide range of guests and specialists to come and share their experience with us in the past few years.

An invaluable experience on translating ideas to action

Throughout YP, participants receive training of social service and proposal development before initiating and organizing a social service project with each other. For example, in previous years, we had one group responsible for collaborating with Blind Union to launch a social service project. The participants attended courses held by Blind Union before they served the blind. They have learnt how to communicate effectively with the officers of the Blind Union throughout the project. While there were challenges and business concerns, participants understood how a project was run in reality afterwards.

YP participants are encouraged to take part from the early initial stage till the actual execution of the whole project Independence and well planning are a must. Here we expect proactive students from schools who are also enthusiastic in contributing to the society. We are certain that the skills gained and social network developed from the Programme will sharpen one's competitive edge in this ever-changing society.

Exceptional learning opportunity in starting up business

Being invited by the Caring Project, selected YP participants would form a team partaking in the 4th Young Entrepreneur Learning Competition during the Hong Kong Computer and Communications Festival (HKCCF). With the aim of promoting community participation, mutual assistance, support and social inclusion, the team will partner with other NGOs and experiencing running a booth in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
