Spring is always a big moment for SEYSA as many talented and bright students receive the awards from the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund and join our family. Meanwhile, we are pleased to inform all awardees that you are welcome to apply for a role in SEYSA Sub-committees, where you can unleash your potential and serve the community.

Background

Since SEYSA’s incorporated in 2010, it has become increasingly important for SEYSA to perform auditing diligently, in compliance with the Companies Ordinance (Cap 32). Every member will have a chance to conduct the auditing with certified public accountants.

Duty of Members

  • Develop and enforce the accounting system;
  • Advise the Board on accounting issues and financial condition of SEYSA;
  • Keep proper book of accounts of SEYSA;
  • Prepare annual financial statements, including statement of comprehensive income and statement of financial position;
  • Draft financial report for Annual General Meeting.

Selection Criteria

  • Upright, responsible and diligent;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in accounting are advantages.

Background

The Communications Committee (CC) is set up to facilitate effective communications between SEYSA, fellow Youders and other external organizations. Members are responsible for conducting correspondence and preparing publication materials, for example welcome kit to new members, press release, annual report, and newsletter.

Duty of Members

  • Handle daily correspondence between SEYSA and other parties;
  • Prepare and proofread publication materials;

Selection Criteria

  • Excellent command in Chinese and English;
  • Responsible and committed;
  • Experience in public communication is preferred.

Background

The Design Team (DCT) works closely with other Committees to create astounding publication materials so as to effectively convey our messages to our audience.

Duty of Members

  • Provide artistic and design support

Selection Criteria

  • Creative;
  • Skilled in various graphic tools (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, iMovie);
  • Attention to details;
  • Strong interest in design, photography and other multimedia-related projects is preferred.

Background

The Development Committee (DC) is responsible for SEYSA’s strategic planning by initiating innovative projects and broadening SEYSA’s network, for example recruiting new committee members, organisational structuring and committee members term review. Currently, DC is proactively establishing relationship with other peer associations.

Duty of Members

  • Design and initiate new projects;
  • Assist in the daily operations of SEYSA including event execution.

Selection Criteria

  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills;
  • Good analytical skills;
  • Responsible, dedicated and proactive;
  • Open-minded;
  • Good time management skills.

Background

The Disabled Student Group (DSG) organises events which facilitate disabled awardees’ participation in the society, such as the CLAY WITH FUN event in 2015. Also, it voices the needs of disabled students and urges the society to provide more support. All in all, DSG strives to help our disabled Youders live their lives to the fullest.

Duty of Members

  • Listen to the needs of disabled students and provide appropriate support;
  • Organise activities for disabled Youders.

Selection Criteria

  • Responsible and diligent;
  • A good team player;
  • Sociable;
  • Compassionate and respectful.

Background

In order for SEYSA and Youders to avail ourselves of the latest technological development, the Information Technology Committee (ITC) is set up to incorporate technologies into SEYSA’s daily operations and provide technological support.

 Duty of Members

  • Initiate and execute new technological advancement projects;
  • Provide IT solutions;
  • Assist in IT-related operations, including the maintenance of SEYSA’s website

Selection Criteria

  • Basic computer skills, with programming skills preferred;
  • Strong interests in learning new technologies;
  • Responsible and strong dedication;

Background

Member is always the pillar of SEYSA. The Membership Committee (MC) is responsible for developing a close and good rapport with our members. Also, MC will organize different activities to support membership growth, for example by proactively recruiting, retaining, and engaging members.

Duty of Members

  • Communicate with current members;
  • Recruit new members;
  • Maintain membership record.

Selection Criteria

  • Willing to reach out to members
  • Familiar with the association
  • Good interpersonal skills

Background

The Operations Committee (OC) is dedicated to programme execution. OC is responsible for designing events and planning logistics arrangement.

Duty of Members

  • • Plan and assist in event organisation;
  • Logistics arrangement;
  • Assist in daily operations of SEYSA.

Selection Criteria

  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills;
  • Able to handle crisis and contingency;
  • Responsible and dedicated;
  • Good time management skills.

Background

Since its establishment in 2010, the Social Service Team (SST) has been serving as a platform for enthusiastic Youders to share their vision and ideas through organizing different social services projects. We have organized projects like tutoring underprivileged children, serving in rural China, and providing technological support in selected districts in Hong Kong. These events have been a huge success.

Duty of Members

  • Organise, co-ordinate and execute social service projects;
  • Communicate with different social groups.

Selection Criteria

  • Experience in social services implementation is preferred;
  • Proactive, responsible and committed.

Background

Since the establishment of SEYSA, many Youders have become outstanding scholars and social leaders in Hong Kong. Youders’ Story was a campaign aiming to re-establish the lost connections with these esteemed figures in the society as well as to pay tribute to their remarkable achievements. We are looking for some new blood who are interested in interviewing and learning from our renowned Youders.

Duty of Members

  • Arrange and conduct interviews;
  • Author an article based on the interview.

Selection Criteria

  • Excellent command in Chinese and English;
  • Responsible and committed
  • Experience in conducting interviews preferred
