\u5c24\u5fb7\u7235\u58eb\u7d00\u5ff5\u57fa\u91d1\u672c\u79d1\u751f\u734e\u5b78\u91d11996\/97\u5e74\u5ea6\u5f97\u734e\u8005<\/p>\n

Many think of architects as designers that produce sketches. For one of the award recipients of the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarships for Undergraduate Students 1996\/97, Ms Florence Chan, the pursuit of architecture is a journey that encompasses passion for design, hunger for knowledge and a belief in team work.<\/p>\n

At young age, Ms. Chan\u2019s favorite pass time activity was building models of all kinds. Her first encounter with architecture was through reading floor plans from apartment sales brochure whereby she was fascinated by how three dimensional space being represented on two dimensional drawings. Against this background, Ms. Chan opted to pursue architectural study at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) after HKCEE. The four-year education at CUHK proved to be a life-changing experience for Ms. Chan. Not only did the program equipped Ms. Chan with the technical know-how to be an architect. More importantly, she learned the importance of critical thinking, and the importance to listen and respond to criticism. After graduated from CUHK with First Class Honour, Ms. Chan decided to get out of her comfort zone, and further her study abroad at Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD), where she completed her Master in Architecture. Those who were invited to give lectures at the GSD are all outstanding architects and scholars. The opportunity to be joining those lecture as students was an eye-opening experience for Ms. Chan.<\/p>\n

Upon graduation, Ms. Chan joined Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, the firm that designed IFC Hong Kong. After studying and working in the US for almost a decade, Ms. Chan decided to return to Hong Kong in 2007. Since then, she has been working at the New York-based architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox and Associates PC (KPF) and she is now a Director overseeing the firm\u2019s projects in Hong Kong and mainland China.<\/p>\n

One of Ms. Chan\u2019s favorite and memorable project is Hysan Place \u2013 a project which sets new standard for sustainable building in Hong Kong. Ms. Chan vividly recalled her encounter with Mr. Peter Lee, the late Chairman of Hysan Development. \u201cMr. Lee\u2019s determination to build the most sustainable building in town was the most admirable. Without him pushing the limit of the design team, the Hysan Place today would have been very different. He showed me what a great leader can do to make an impact.\u201d Unfortunately, the Chairman passed away before the completion of the project. Now, when Ms. Chan passed by Hysan Place, she would think of the Chairman and be reminded the importance to lead by example.<\/p>\n

At present, Ms. Chan is leading a team of architects on the design and construction of the new Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) Campus project which is scheduled to open in Fall 2022. The opportunity to design an entire campus from scratch is a once-in-a-life time experience. As a professional for almost 20 years, Ms. Chan still finds herself learning daily in this challenging project. \u201cThe opportunity to design buildings that provide a good and sustainable learning environment for our future generation is a very meaningful act. It makes all the late night hard work worthwhile\u201d said Ms. Chan.<\/p>\n

Outside work, Ms. Chan is currently serving as the Vice-President (President-elect 2022) of the American Institute of Architects Hong Kong Chapter. Under her leadership, the Chapter has launched programs to provide career guidance to students who are interested in pursuing a career in architecture. A strong believer in the power of education, Ms. Chan taught architectural design at her alma mater CUHK. Ms. Chan is currently serving as a mentor in the Mentorship Programme of the Sir Edward Youde Scholars Association. \u201cI was very fortunate to have benefited from different great mentors at different moments of my career, and I understand the importance of having such supports. Now that I am a mentor myself, I realize the role of a mentor is not only a one way sharing. I learned from my mentees, too!\u201d Through sharing, we can all become a better person.<\/p>\n

\u5927\u773e\u5c0d\u5efa\u7bc9\u5e2b\u8a8d\u8b58\u4e00\u822c\u90fd\u9650\u65bc\u8a2d\u8a08\u53ca\u756b\u5716\uff0c\u4f46\u5c0d\u65bc\u5c24\u5fb7\u7235\u58eb\u7d00\u5ff5\u57fa\u91d1\u734e\u5b78\u91d196\/97\u5e74\u5f97\u734e\u8005\u9673\u9e97\u59cd\u5973\u58eb\u4f86\u8aaa\uff0c\u8981\u628a\u5efa\u7bc9\u4f5c\u70ba\u7d42\u8eab\u8077\u696d\uff0c\u5b83\u5305\u542b\u4e86\u5c0d\u8a2d\u8a08\u7684\u71b1\u60c5\uff0c\u5c0d\u77e5\u8b58\u7684\u8ffd\u6c42\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u5c0d\u5718\u968a\u5408\u4f5c\u7684\u4fe1\u5ff5\u3002<\/p>\n

\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u5c0f\u6642\u7684\u55dc\u597d\u5305\u62ec\u62fc\u780c\u5404\u7a2e\u6a21\u578b\uff0c\u5979\u9996\u6b21\u63a5\u89f8\u5efa\u7bc9\u8a2d\u8a08\uff0c\u53ef\u7b97\u662f\u770b\u5230\u552e\u6a13\u66f8\u4e2d\u7684\u5e73\u9762\u5716\uff0c\u7576\u6642\u5979\u5c0d\u65bc\u4e8c\u7dad\u5e73\u9762\u5716\u80fd\u5c07\u8907\u96dc\u7684\u4e09\u7dad\u7a7a\u9593\u8868\u9054\u611f\u5230\u597d\u5947\uff0c\u5728\u53cd\u5fa9\u81ea\u5b78\u7684\u904e\u7a0b\u4e2d\u5979\u5b78\u6703\u4e86\u5efa\u7bc9\u7684\u62bd\u8c61\u8868\u9054\u65b9\u6cd5\u3002<\/p>\n

\u96a8\u8457\u5c11\u5e74\u6642\u671f\u7684\u5553\u601d\uff0c\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u5728\u4e2d\u5b78\u6703\u8003\u5f8c\uff0c\u9806\u7406\u6210\u7ae0\u7684\u9078\u64c7\u4e86\u5165\u8b80\u9999\u6e2f\u4e2d\u6587\u5927\u5b78\u7684\u5efa\u7bc9\u7cfb\u3002\u56db\u5e74\u7684\u5efa\u7bc9\u6559\u80b2\u6539\u8b8a\u4e86\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u7684\u4e00\u751f\uff0c\u4e2d\u5927\u9664\u4e86\u70ba\u5979\u63d0\u4f9b\u826f\u597d\u7684\u5efa\u7bc9\u77e5\u8b58\u57fa\u790e\u5916\uff0c\u66f4\u8b93\u5979\u4e86\u89e3\u6279\u5224\u601d\u8003\u3001\u8046\u807d\u548c\u56de\u61c9\u6279\u8a55\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u6027\u3002\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u4ee5\u4e00\u7d1a\u69ae\u8b7d\u7684\u6210\u7e3e\u53d6\u5f97\u672c\u79d1\u5b78\u4f4d\u5f8c\uff0c\u5979\u96e2\u958b\u719f\u6089\u7684\u5b78\u7fd2\u74b0\u5883\uff0c\u9060\u8d74\u7f8e\u570b\u54c8\u4f5b\u5927\u5b78\u8a2d\u8a08\u5b78\u9662\u6df1\u9020\uff0c\u4e26\u7372\u5f97\u5efa\u7bc9\u5b78\u78a9\u58eb\u5b78\u4f4d\u3002\u80fd\u5920\u5230\u54c8\u4f5b\u8b1b\u5b78\u7684\u90fd\u662f\u5728\u5efa\u7bc9\u754c\u6709\u4e00\u5b9a\u5f71\u97ff\u529b\u7684\u5efa\u7bc9\u5e2b\u6216\u5b78\u8005\uff0c\u80fd\u5920\u4ee5\u5b78\u751f\u8eab\u4efd\u53c3\u8207\u6bcf\u4e00\u5834\u7cbe\u91c7\u7684\u6f14\u8b1b\u4ee4\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u773c\u754c\u5927\u958b\u3002<\/p>\n

\u54c8\u4f5b\u5927\u5b78\u7562\u696d\u5f8c\uff0c\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u52a0\u5165\u4e86\u7f8e\u570bPelli Clarke Pelli Architects \uff08PCPA\uff09\uff0cPCPA\u6700\u70ba\u5927\u5bb6\u719f\u6089\u7684\u4f5c\u54c1\u61c9\u8a72\u662f\u9999\u6e2f\u570b\u969b\u91d1\u878d\u4e2d\u5fc3\u3002\u7559\u7f8e10\u5e74\uff0c\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u65bc2007\u5e74\u56de\u6d41\u9999\u6e2f\u5de5\u4f5c\uff0c\u65bc\u7f8e\u570b KPF \u5efa\u7bc9\u4e8b\u52d9\u6240\u9999\u6e2f\u8fa6\u4e8b\u8655\u5de5\u4f5c\uff0c\u73fe\u6642\u64d4\u4efb\u9805\u76ee\u7e3d\u76e3\uff0c\u8ca0\u8cac\u516c\u53f8\u5728\u9999\u6e2f\u548c\u4e2d\u570b\u5927\u9678\u7684\u9805\u76ee\u3002<\/p>\n

\u56de\u9996\u904e\u5f80\u5efa\u7bc9\u751f\u6daf\uff0c\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u6700\u559c\u611b\u53ca\u81ea\u8c6a\u7684\u4f5c\u54c1\u53ef\u7b97\u662f\u9285\u947c\u7063\u5e0c\u614e\u5ee3\u5834\u3002\u9019\u9805\u76ee\u6975\u5177\u610f\u7fa9\uff0c\u5b83\u70ba\u9999\u6e2f\u5f80\u5f8c\u7684\u53ef\u6301\u7e8c\u5efa\u7bc9\u5236\u5b9a\u4e86\u65b0\u7684\u6a19\u6e96\u3002\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u4ecd\u61f7\u5ff5\u8457\u7576\u6642\u5e0c\u614e\u4e3b\u5e2d\u5229\u5b9a\u660c\u5148\u751f\u5c0d\u53ef\u6301\u7e8c\u5efa\u7bc9\u90a3\u7a2e\u71b1\u5207\u7684\u8ffd\u6c42\uff0c\u6c7a\u5fc3\u8981\u628a\u9805\u76ee\u5efa\u8a2d\u70ba\u7576\u6642\u9999\u6e2f\u6700\u74b0\u4fdd\u7684\u5efa\u7bc9\u3002\u5982\u679c\u7576\u6642\u6c92\u6709\u5229\u4e3b\u5e2d\u5c0d\u9805\u76ee\u5e36\u9818\u53ca\u63a8\u52d5\uff0c\u73fe\u4eca\u5e0c\u614e\u5ee3\u5834\u5fc5\u5b9a\u622a\u7136\u4e0d\u540c,\u4ed6\u4ee4\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u660e\u767d\u9818\u5c0e\u80fd\u529b\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u3002\u4e0d\u5e78\u5730\uff0c\u4e3b\u5e2d\u5728\u9805\u76ee\u843d\u6210\u524d\u7a81\u7136\u96e2\u4e16\uff0c\u4ea6\u4f7f\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u6bcf\u6b21\u7d93\u904e\u9285\u947c\u7063\u6642\u90fd\u6703\u60f3\u8d77\u4e3b\u5e2d\u53ca\u5176\u4ee5\u8eab\u4f5c\u5247\u7684\u8655\u4e8b\u624b\u6cd5\u3002<\/p>\n

\u76ee\u524d\uff0c\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u6b63\u5e36\u9818\u5718\u968a\u5c08\u6ce8\u65bc\u9999\u6e2f\u79d1\u6280\u5927\u5b78\uff08\u5ee3\u5dde\uff09\u6821\u5712\u7684\u8a2d\u8a08\u53ca\u5efa\u9020\u3002\u8a72\u6821\u5712\u8a08\u5283\u57282022\u5e74\u4e5d\u6708\u958b\u5b78\u3002\u80fd\u628a\u6574\u500b\u6821\u5712\u7531\u96f6\u958b\u59cb\u7b56\u5283\u5efa\u9020\u662f\u5efa\u7bc9\u5e2b\u751f\u6daf\u96e3\u5f97\u7684\u6a5f\u6703\uff0c\u96d6\u7136\u6709\u8d85\u904e20\u5e74\u7684\u5de5\u4f5c\u8cc7\u6b77\uff0c\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u6bcf\u5929\u90fd\u5728\u9019\u500b\u5177\u6709\u6311\u6230\u6027\u7684\u9805\u76ee\u4e2d\u5b78\u7fd2\u3002\u60f3\u5230\u53ef\u4ee5\u70ba\u5b78\u751f\u63d0\u4f9b\u4e00\u500b\u826f\u597d\u53ca\u53ef\u6301\u7e8c\u7684\u5b78\u7fd2\u74b0\u5883\uff0c\u4f7f\u5979\u611f\u5230\u6bcf\u5929\u9577\u6642\u9593\u8f9b\u52de\u5de5\u4f5c\u90fd\u662f\u503c\u5f97\u7684\u3002<\/p>\n

\u5de5\u4f5c\u4ee5\u5916\uff0c\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u4e5f\u71b1\u5fc3\u53c3\u8207\u5efa\u7bc9\u5e2b\u5b78\u6703\u4e8b\u52d9\uff0c\u5979\u70ba\u73fe\u4efb\u7f8e\u570b\u5efa\u7bc9\u5e2b\u5b78\u6703\u9999\u6e2f\u5206\u6703\u526f\u4e3b\u5e2d\uff082022\u4e3b\u5e2d\uff09\u3002\u5728\u5979\u9818\u5c0e\u4e0b\uff0c\u5206\u6703\u6b63\u70ba\u6709\u5fd7\u6295\u8eab\u5efa\u7bc9\u754c\u7684\u5b78\u751f\u63d0\u4f9b\u8077\u696d\u8f14\u5c0e\u3002\u4e00\u76f4\u5805\u4fe1\u6559\u80b2\u7684\u5fc5\u8981\uff0c\u5979\u4ea6\u56de\u5230\u6bcd\u6821\u4e2d\u5927\u64d4\u4efb\u5ba2\u5e2d\u6559\u6388\uff0c\u628a\u81ea\u5df1\u7684\u5c08\u696d\u77e5\u8b58\u53ca\u5de5\u4f5c\u7d93\u9a57\u5206\u4eab\u4e88\u5b78\u59b9\u5b78\u5f1f\u3002<\/p>\n

\u73fe\u6642\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u53c3\u8207\u5c24\u5fb7\u5b78\u8005\u5354\u6703\u7684Mentorship Programme\u4e2d\u64d4\u4efbmentor\u3002\u5979\u5f88\u611f\u6069\u80fd\u5920\u5728\u8077\u696d\u751f\u6daf\u88e1\u4e0d\u540c\u6642\u523b\u53d7\u76ca\u65bc\u4e0d\u540c\u7684mentor\uff0c\u4f5c\u70ba\u904e\u4f86\u4eba\uff0c\u5979\u5f88\u7406\u89e3\u4e92\u76f8\u6276\u6301\u7684\u5fc5\u8981\u3002\u5f9ementee\u6210\u70bamentor\uff0c\u9673\u5973\u58eb\u9818\u6703\u5230mentor\u7684\u89d2\u8272\u4e0d\u53ea\u662f\u55ae\u5411\u7684\u5206\u4eab\uff0c\u800c\u662f\u96d9\u5411\u7684\u5b78\u7fd2\u3002\u900f\u904e\u4e92\u76f8\u4ea4\u6d41\u5206\u4eab\uff0c\u5927\u5bb6\u90fd\u6709\u6a5f\u6703\u6539\u5584\u53ca\u9032\u6b65\uff0c\u540c\u6b65\u5411\u524d\u3002<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
