Many people tend to stick with their own careers for their whole life as it always takes extra effort to adapt to the new environment and learn new stuff. Whereas, the recipient of Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarship for Overseas Studies in 1993\/94, Mr. Raymond Tong, has made a different decision. As a fast learner and a people person, he has worked in six industries with excellence over the past 20+ years. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of SUNeVision Holdings Ltd. (1686.HK)<\/p>\n

During his secondary school years, Mr. Tong studied at Queen\u2019s College and received excellent grades in the HKCEE. Since his childhood dream was to study abroad, he applied and was successfully admitted to the University of Pennsylvania. Having a deep interest in mathematics and engineering, he initially pursued Bachelor of Science in Engineering (in Electrical Engineering) degree, but after attending some business classes in freshman year, he also decided to enroll in Bachelor of Science in Economics (in Finance), given the choice of a double-degree program at his university, and completed them within four and a half years.<\/p>\n

After graduation, Mr. Tong aspired to learn how to manage a business. In the past 20+ years of his career, he worked in various leading companies in different industries to acquire different skills to pursue his aspiration. He started off as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he learnt about business strategies, advisory and interaction with senior executives at clients\u2019 companies. Such experience laid good foundation for Mr. Tong\u2019s career development thereafter, to be able to learn and adapt quickly and communicate effectively. After McKinsey, he joined as founding team of an internet startup which was later sold and exited to a listed company. He then moved to China to pick up China experience by joining a semiconductor company which he successfully did an IPO in Hong Kong. Subsequently he had extensive exposure in venture capital investment under a Japanese conglomerate, and food & beverage (F&B) experience as CEO of Pacific Coffee and later on COO of Maxim\u2019s Group. All these experiences had equipped him to be best positioned to take up the CEO post of SUNeVision Holdings, a $10 billion market cap listed company, in mid-2018. The company has continued to grow in past 3+ years, and now valued at $17 billion market cap.<\/p>\n

Being the CEO, bares the responsibility of total management and accountability of SUNeVision in all aspects, Mr. Tong has to formulate strategic directions and implements respective policies to promote the company\u2019s development and growth and makes sure that every team member is working towards the same goal, from top to bottom. In addition, as a listed company of the new economy, he has to meet clients and investors to strengthen the relationship. The most memorable event for Mr. Tong over the past three years was the bid for land for the company, now the No. 7 data centre in Hong Kong. At the time, to win the land market at a new high price he needed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of the land investment, matching with customer demand, and discuss with the Board and ask for the support from the parent company. The success of the investment means that the company scale will be more than triple. The continuous growth in digital economy and demand for high quality data centres, especially since the new norm after pandemic, has proved that land acquisition as a wise forward-looking investment in end of 2018. That mega data centre will grand open in end of next year in 2022.<\/p>\n

With the maturity of 5G technology, all walks of life are now preparing for any possible changes in the upcoming years. The characteristics of 5G: high speed, low latency, and large-scale machine-type communication, has facilitated the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) in transportation and logistics, industrial manufacturing, and many other fields. Communication between devices generates data that provide insightful information for enterprises. Therefore, in the new 5G era, it is extremely important to have data centres as they provide reliable storage spaces for many uses. In addition to providing storage services, an excellent data centre also creates an ecosystem that allows different stakeholders to conduct transactions in it. Mr. Tong pointed out that there are 11 major submarine fibre cables connecting Hong Kong with rest of the world, out of which 9 of them have established points of presence in SUNeVision\u2019s data centres to facilitate the connection and used by corporate and business clients. The more customers there are in the data centre, the greater the network effect is, that is also why their data centres are superior to the others. Now, the company is building three new data centres, which will be completed in 2022 at the earliest. The company is also exploring the possibility of building data centres outside of Hong Kong as well to provide better and more comprehensive service for its customers.<\/p>\n

Mr. Tong received the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarships for Overseas Studies in Form six. Given that his family could not afford the cost to send him abroad, getting a scholarship was the key to realize his dream. He still vividly remembers that he needed to submit application with self-recommendation letter and attend interviews to explain his reasons and visions for studying university in the United States. He admitted that the scholarship has transformed his life tremendously. If he had not been awarded the scholarship, he would receive very different exposure and his career development would be very different. He also felt grateful for the Fund which agreed to extend the funding period when he needed additional funding to complete the double degrees.<\/p>\n

It has been nearly 30 years since winning the award, and Mr. Tong has also worked in and learnt from many different industries. He suggests everyone learning to adapt to the rapidly changing environment and working hard to build connections and reputation to be successful in the workplace.<\/p>\n

\u8077\u5834\u4e0a\uff0c\u8f49\u884c\u5f80\u5f80\u610f\u5473\u8981\u9069\u61c9\u65b0\u74b0\u5883\uff0c\u4ee4\u8a31\u591a\u4eba\u56e0\u800c\u537b\u6b65\u3002\u5c24\u5fb7\u7235\u58eb\u7d00\u5ff5\u57fa\u91d1\u6d77\u5916\u734e\u5b78\u91d11993\/94\u5e74\u5f97\u734e\u8005 \u2014 \u6e6f\u570b\u6c5f\u5148\u751f\u537b\u6191\u8457\u5feb\u901f\u5b78\u7fd2\u65b0\u4e8b\u7269\u7684\u80fd\u529b\u4ee5\u53ca\u591a\u5e74\u4f86\u5728\u8077\u5834\u4e2d\u5efa\u7acb\u7684\u4eba\u8108\uff0c\u5728\u904e\u53bb\u77ed\u77ed\u4e8c\u5341\u591a\u5e74\u9593\u5148\u5f8c\u6295\u8eab\u516d\u500b\u884c\u696d\u4e26\u7372\u5f97\u5353\u8d8a\u4f73\u7e3e\u3002\u76ee\u524d\u7684\u4ed6\u662f\u65b0\u610f\u7db2\u96c6\u5718\u6709\u9650\u516c\u53f8(1686.HK)\u7684\u884c\u653f\u7e3d\u88c1\u3002<\/p>\n

\u6e6f\u5148\u751f\u4e2d\u5b78\u6642\u671f\u5c31\u8b80\u65bc\u7687\u4ec1\u66f8\u9662\uff0c\u4e2d\u4e94\u6642\u6703\u8003\u6210\u7e3e\u512a\u7570\uff0c\u5152\u6642\u5922\u60f3\u5df2\u662f\u5230\u6d77\u5916\u5347\u5b78\u7684\u4ed6\uff0c\u6700\u7d42\u7372\u5f97\u8cd3\u5915\u6cd5\u5c3c\u4e9e\u5927\u5b78\u53d6\u9304\u3002\u57fa\u65bc\u5c0d\u6578\u5b78\u53ca\u5de5\u7a0b\u6fc3\u539a\u7684\u8208\u8da3\uff0c\u4ed6\u9996\u9078\u4e86\u4fee\u8b80\u96fb\u6a5f\u5de5\u7a0b\u79d1\uff0c\u5728\u5927\u5b78\u4e00\u5e74\u7d1a\u7684\u6642\u5019\u65c1\u807d\u904e\u4e00\u4e9b\u5546\u696d\u8ab2\u5802\u5f8c\uff0c\u4ed6\u6bc5\u7136\u6c7a\u5b9a\u540c\u6642\u5831\u8b80\u91d1\u878d\u79d1\uff0c\u5728\u56db\u5e74\u534a\u5167\u5b8c\u6210\u96d9\u5b78\u4f4d\u8ab2\u7a0b\u3002<\/p>\n

\u7562\u696d\u5f8c\uff0c\u6e6f\u5148\u751f\u71b1\u5207\u8ffd\u6c42\u5982\u4f55\u7ba1\u7406\u4e00\u76e4\u751f\u610f\u7684\u5404\u7a2e\u667a\u6167\uff0c\u65bc\u4e8c\u5341\u591a\u5e74\u7684\u8077\u696d\u751f\u6daf\u4e2d\u66fe\u7f6e\u8eab\u4e0d\u540c\u884c\u696d\u7684\u9f8d\u982d\u4f01\u696d\u3002\u6578\u5230\u6700\u521d\u52a0\u5165\u9ea5\u80af\u932b\u516c\u53f8\u4f5c\u70ba\u7ba1\u7406\u9867\u554f\uff0c\u5b78\u7fd2\u5230\u4e0d\u5c11\u5546\u696d\u7b56\u7565\u548c\u8aee\u8a62\u6280\u5de7\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u8207\u5ba2\u6236\u7ba1\u7406\u5c64\u7684\u4e92\u52d5\u4ea4\u6d41\uff1b\u9019\u4e9b\u7d93\u9a57\u70ba\u6e6f\u5148\u751f\u96a8\u5f8c\u7684\u4e8b\u696d\u767c\u5c55\u548c\u9ad8\u6548\u878d\u5165\u3001\u9069\u61c9\u8207\u6e9d\u901a\u7684\u80fd\u529b\u90fd\u5960\u4e0b\u7a69\u5065\u7684\u57fa\u790e\u3002\u96e2\u958b\u9ea5\u80af\u932b\u5f8c\uff0c\u4ed6\u4ee5\u5275\u59cb\u5718\u968a\u8eab\u4efd\u53c3\u8207\u904e\u4e00\u5bb6\u4e92\u806f\u7db2\u521d\u5275\u4f01\u696d\uff0c\u5354\u52a9\u8a72\u516c\u53f8\u671f\u5f8c\u6210\u529f\u9000\u51fa\u53ca\u8f49\u8b93\u7d66\u4e00\u6240\u4e0a\u5e02\u516c\u53f8\u3002\u70ba\u4e86\u6c72\u53d6\u66f4\u591a\u4e2d\u570b\u7d93\u9a57\uff0c\u6e6f\u5148\u751f\u53c8\u79fb\u5e2b\u52a0\u5165\u5167\u5730\u4e00\u5bb6\u534a\u5c0e\u9ad4\u516c\u53f8\uff0c\u6210\u529f\u66ff\u5176\u5b89\u6392\u5728\u9999\u6e2f\u4e0a\u5e02\u3002\u63a5\u8457\u4ed6\u5728\u4e00\u65e5\u672c\u4f01\u696d\u96c6\u5718\u65d7\u4e0b\u98a8\u96aa\u6295\u8cc7\u696d\u52d9\u5f97\u8457\u5ee3\u6cdb\u7d93\u9a57\uff0c\u7e7c\u800c\u9032\u4e00\u6b65\u6d89\u7375\u65bc\u98f2\u98df\u754c\uff0c\u5148\u5f8c\u64d4\u4efb\u592a\u5e73\u6d0b\u5496\u5561\u516c\u53f8\u884c\u653f\u7e3d\u88c1\u53ca\u7f8e\u5fc3\u96c6\u5718\u9996\u5e2d\u71df\u904b\u5b98\u3002\u4e00\u76f4\u8d70\u4f86\u7d2f\u7a4d\u4e0b\u6b64\u7b49\u7a2e\u7a2e\uff0c\u6b63\u597d\u6210\u70ba\u6e6f\u5148\u751f\u65bc2018\u5e74\u51fa\u4efb\u9999\u6e2f\u4e0a\u5e02\u516c\u53f8\u65b0\u610f\u7db2\u96c6\u5718\u884c\u653f\u7e3d\u88c1\u4e00\u8077\u7684\u6700\u4f73\u88dd\u5099\uff0c\u4ea6\u9020\u5c31\u516c\u53f8\u5728\u904e\u53bb\u4e09\u5e74\u591a\u6301\u7e8c\u589e\u9577\uff0c\u5e02\u503c\u7531100\u5104\u6e2f\u5143\u5347\u81f3\u76ee\u524d170\u5104\u6e2f\u5143\u3002<\/p>\n

\u8eab\u70ba\u884c\u653f\u7e3d\u88c1\uff0c\u610f\u5473\u8457\u6e6f\u5148\u751f\u80a9\u8ca0\u8457\u516c\u53f8\u7684\u4e00\u5207\u4e8b\u52d9\u3002\u4ed6\u9700\u8981\u70ba\u516c\u53f8\u5236\u5b9a\u6230\u7565\u6027\u65b9\u5411\uff0c\u4e26\u57f7\u884c\u76f8\u95dc\u7684\u653f\u7b56\u4ee5\u63a8\u52d5\u516c\u53f8\u7684\u767c\u5c55\u548c\u589e\u9577\u3002\u4ed6\u4ea6\u9700\u8981\u9818\u5c0e\u4ed6\u7684\u884c\u653f\u5718\u968a\uff0c\u78ba\u4fdd\u516c\u53f8\u4e0a\u4e0b\u6bcf\u500b\u6210\u54e1\u5747\u671d\u8457\u76f8\u540c\u7684\u65b9\u5411\u9032\u767c\u3002\u53e6\u5916\uff0c\u4f5c\u70ba\u4e00\u5bb6\u65b0\u7d93\u6fdf\u7684\u4e0a\u5e02\u516c\u53f8\uff0c\u4ed6\u66f4\u9700\u8981\u8207\u5ba2\u6236\u548c\u6295\u8cc7\u8005\u898b\u9762\uff0c\u5f37\u5316\u516c\u53f8\u8207\u4ed6\u5011\u7684\u95dc\u4fc2\u3002\u5728\u4e09\u5e74\u591a\u7684\u6642\u9593\u4e2d\uff0c\u6700\u96e3\u5fd8\u7684\u662f\u70ba\u516c\u53f8\u6295\u5f97\u9999\u6e2f\u7b2c\u4e03\u865f\u6578\u64da\u4e2d\u5fc3\u7684\u5730\u76ae\u3002\u7576\u6642\uff0c\u4ed6\u65e2\u8981\u8a55\u4f30\u6295\u5730\u6210\u672c\u6548\u76ca\u548c\u8861\u91cf\u5ba2\u6236\u9700\u6c42\uff0c\u540c\u6642\u8981\u8ddf\u8463\u4e8b\u5c40\u5546\u8a0e\u4ee5\u81f3\u8acb\u6c42\u6bcd\u516c\u53f8\u652f\u63f4\uff0c\u6700\u5f8c\u4ee5\u5275\u65b0\u9ad8\u7684\u50f9\u9322\u596a\u5f97\u5730\u76ae\u3002\u6295\u5730\u6210\u529f\u610f\u5473\u8457\u516c\u53f8\u898f\u6a21\u5c07\u5448\u73fe\u81f3\u5c11\u4e09\u500d\u7684\u589e\u9577\uff0c\u52a0\u4e0a\u5c24\u81ea\u75ab\u60c5\u8d77\u7684\u65b0\u5e38\u614b\u4e0b\u6578\u78bc\u7d93\u6fdf\u7684\u6301\u7e8c\u589e\u9577\u548c\u5c0d\u9ad8\u8cea\u91cf\u6578\u64da\u4e2d\u5fc3\u7684\u9700\u6c42\uff0c\u90fd\u8b49\u660e2018\u5e74\u5e95\u7684\u8cb7\u5730\u662f\u4e00\u9805\u660e\u667a\u517c\u5177\u524d\u77bb\u6027\u7684\u6295\u8cc7\u3002\u8a72\u500b\u5927\u578b\u6578\u64da\u4e2d\u5fc3\u5c07\u65bc\u660e\u5e742022\u5e74\u5e95\u9686\u91cd\u63ed\u5e55\u3002<\/p>\n

\u96a8\u8457\u7b2c\u4e94\u4ee3\u6d41\u52d5\u901a\u8a0a\u6280\u8853(5G)\u7684\u6210\u719f\uff0c\u5404\u884c\u5404\u696d\u5df2\u70ba\u5373\u5c07\u5230\u4f86\u7684\u8b8a\u5316\u505a\u6e96\u5099\u30025G\u7684\u9ad8\u901f\u5ea6\u3001\u4f4e\u6642\u5ef6\u3001\u5927\u898f\u6a21\u6a5f\u5668\u985e\u578b\u901a\u8a0a\u7684\u7279\u6027\u4f7f\u7269\u806f\u7db2\u7684\u61c9\u7528\u5728\u904b\u8f38\u548c\u7269\u6d41\u3001\u5de5\u696d\u88fd\u9020\u7b49\u9818\u57df\u8b8a\u5f97\u66f4\u5ee3\u6cdb\u3002\u8a2d\u5099\u4e4b\u9593\u7684\u901a\u8a0a\u6703\u7522\u751f\u5927\u91cf\u7684\u6578\u64da\uff0c\u5f9e\u6578\u64da\u4e2d\u62bd\u7d72\u525d\u7e6d\u80fd\u70ba\u4f01\u696d\u63d0\u4f9b\u6709\u610f\u7fa9\u7684\u4fe1\u606f\u3002\u56e0\u6b64\uff0c\u63d0\u4f9b\u53ef\u9760\u7684\u5132\u5b58\u7a7a\u9593\u8b93\u6578\u64da\u4e2d\u5fc3\u6210\u70ba5G\u65b0\u6642\u4ee3\u4e0b\u7684\u4e00\u500b\u91cd\u8981\u74b0\u7bc0\u3002\u9664\u4e86\u63d0\u4f9b\u5132\u5b58\u670d\u52d9\u5916\uff0c\u512a\u8d8a\u7684\u6578\u64da\u4e2d\u5fc3\u71df\u9020\u6574\u500b\u751f\u614b\uff0c\u8b93\u4e0d\u540c\u7684\u6301\u4efd\u8005\u5728\u6578\u64da\u4e2d\u5fc3\u5167\u9032\u884c\u4ea4\u6613\u3002\u4ed6\u6307\u51fa\uff0c\u9999\u6e2f\u6709\u5341\u4e00\u689d\u4e3b\u8981\u6d77\u5e95\u901a\u8a0a\u96fb\u7e9c\u9023\u7e6b\u4e16\u754c\uff0c\u7576\u4e2d\u6709\u4e5d\u689d\u96fb\u7e9c\u7684\u71df\u904b\u5546\u90fd\u628a\u5165\u7db2\u9ede\u5efa\u7acb\u5728\u65b0\u610f\u7db2\u96c6\u5718\u7684\u6578\u64da\u4e2d\u5fc3\uff0c\u65b9\u4fbf\u5404\u4f01\u696d\u5ba2\u6236\u53ca\u5404\u5927\u5c0f\u96fb\u8a0a\u5546\u5ba2\u6236\u9023\u63a5\u4f7f\u7528\u3002\u7576\u6578\u64da\u4e2d\u5fc3\u7684\u5ba2\u6236\u6108\u591a\uff0c\u7db2\u7d61\u6548\u61c9\u5c31\u6703\u6108\u5927\uff0c\u9019\u4ea6\u4f7f\u5230\u96c6\u5718\u6578\u64da\u4e2d\u5fc3\u7684\u9023\u901a\u6027\u9060\u52dd\u5176\u4ed6\u7af6\u722d\u5c0d\u624b\u3002\u516c\u53f8\u73fe\u6b63\u8208\u5efa\u4e09\u500b\u65b0\u7684\u6578\u64da\u4e2d\u5fc3\uff0c\u6700\u5feb\u7684\u5c07\u6703\u57282022\u5e74\u843d\u6210\u3002\u5c55\u671b\u5c07\u4f86\uff0c\u516c\u53f8\u6703\u63a2\u8a0e\u5728\u9999\u6e2f\u4ee5\u5916\u5730\u5340\u7c4c\u5efa\u6578\u64da\u4e2d\u5fc3\u7684\u53ef\u80fd\u6027\uff0c\u70ba\u5ba2\u6236\u63d0\u4f9b\u66f4\u9ad8\u6c34\u5e73\u7684\u670d\u52d9\u3002<\/p>\n

\u6e6f\u5148\u751f\u5728\u4e2d\u516d\u6642\u7372\u5f97\u5c24\u5fb7\u7235\u58eb\u7d00\u5ff5\u57fa\u91d1\u7684\u6d77\u5916\u734e\u5b78\u91d1\u3002\u7531\u65bc\u7236\u6bcd\u6c92\u6709\u80fd\u529b\u8ca0\u64d4\u4ed6\u5230\u6d77\u5916\u5347\u5b78\u7684\u8cbb\u7528\uff0c\u56e0\u6b64\u7372\u53d6\u734e\u5b78\u91d1\u662f\u4ed6\u552f\u4e00\u53ef\u4ee5\u5be6\u73fe\u76ee\u6a19\u7684\u9078\u9805\u3002\u4ed6\u9084\u8a18\u5f97\uff0c\u7576\u6642\u9700\u8981\u905e\u4ea4\u4e00\u4efd\u9644\u6709\u81ea\u85a6\u4fe1\u7684\u7533\u8acb\uff0c\u4e26\u51fa\u5e2d\u9762\u8a66\u95e1\u8ff0\u81ea\u5df1\u5230\u7f8e\u570b\u5347\u5b78\u7684\u539f\u56e0\u548c\u9858\u666f\u3002\u4ed6\u5766\u8a00\uff0c\u5c24\u5fb7\u7235\u58eb\u7d00\u5ff5\u57fa\u91d1\u6d77\u5916\u734e\u5b78\u91d1\u5f71\u97ff\u4e86\u4ed6\u7684\u4e00\u751f\uff0c\u82e5\u679c\u6c92\u6709\u7372\u9812\u734e\u5b78\u91d1\uff0c\u4ed6\u7684\u6240\u898b\u6240\u805e\u5c07\u6703\u5927\u76f8\u5f91\u5ead\uff0c\u4ed6\u7684\u4e8b\u696d\u767c\u5c55\u4e5f\u6703\u5f88\u4e0d\u4e00\u6a23\u3002\u4ed6\u4ea6\u5341\u5206\u611f\u6fc0\u57fa\u91d1\u6703\uff0c\u5728\u4ed6\u9700\u8981\u591a\u534a\u5e74\u6642\u9593\u5b8c\u6210\u96d9\u5b78\u4f4d\u6642\u540c\u610f\u5ef6\u9577\u8cc7\u52a9\u671f\u9650\u3002<\/p>\n

\u6e6f\u5148\u751f\u5f97\u734e\u81f3\u4eca\u7d93\u904e\u63a5\u8fd1\u4e09\u5341\u5e74\uff0c\u7576\u4e2d\u66fe\u6295\u8eab\u5728\u591a\u500b\u884c\u696d\u63a2\u7d22\u7814\u7fd2\u7684\u4ed6\u5bc4\u8a9e\u5927\u5bb6\uff0c\u8981\u5148\u5b78\u6703\u9069\u61c9\u6025\u901f\u8b8a\u5316\u7684\u74b0\u5883\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u52aa\u529b\u5efa\u7acb\u4eba\u969b\u7db2\u7d61\u548c\u826f\u597d\u8072\u8b7d\uff0c\u624d\u80fd\u5728\u8077\u5834\u4e0a\u53d6\u5f97\u6210\u529f\u3002<\/p>\n

Many people tend to stick with their own careers for their whole life as it always takes extra effort to adapt to the new environment and learn new stuff. Whereas, the recipient of Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarship for Overseas Studies in 1993\/94, Mr. Raymond Tong, has made a different decision. As a fast learner and a people person, he has worked in six industries with excellence over the past 20+ years. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of SUNeVision Holdings Ltd. (1686.HK)<\/span><\/p>\n

During his secondary school years, Mr. Tong studied at Queen's College and received excellent grades in the HKCEE. Since his childhood dream was to study abroad, he applied and was successfully admitted to the University of Pennsylvania. Having a deep interest in mathematics and engineering, he initially pursued Bachelor of Science in Engineering (in Electrical Engineering) degree, but after attending some business classes in freshman year, he also decided to enroll in Bachelor of Science in Economics (in Finance), given the choice of a double-degree program at his university, and completed them within four and a half years.<\/span><\/p>\n

After graduation, Mr. Tong aspired to learn how to manage a business.\u00a0 In the past 20+ years of his career, he worked in various leading companies in different industries to acquire different skills to pursue his aspiration.\u00a0 He started off as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he learnt about business strategies, advisory and interaction with senior executives at clients\u2019 companies.\u00a0 Such experience laid good foundation for Mr. Tong\u2019s career development thereafter, to be able to learn and adapt quickly and communicate effectively.\u00a0 After McKinsey, he joined as founding team of an internet startup which was later sold and exited to a listed company.\u00a0 He then moved to China to pick up China experience by joining a semiconductor company which he successfully did an IPO in Hong Kong. Subsequently he had extensive exposure in venture capital investment under a Japanese conglomerate, and food & beverage (F&B) experience as CEO of Pacific Coffee and later on COO of Maxim\u2019s Group.\u00a0 All these experiences had equipped him to be best positioned to take up the CEO post of SUNeVision Holdings, a $10 billion market cap listed company, in mid-2018.\u00a0 The company has continued to grow in past 3+ years, and now valued at $17 billion market cap.<\/span><\/p>\n

Being the CEO, bares the responsibility of total management and accountability of SUNeVision in all aspects, Mr. Tong has to formulate strategic directions and implements respective policies to promote the company's development and growth and makes sure that every team member is working towards the same goal, from top to bottom. In addition, as a listed company of the new economy, he has to meet clients and investors to strengthen the relationship. The most memorable event for Mr. Tong over the past three years was the bid for land for the company, now the No. 7 data centre in Hong Kong. At the time, to win the land market at a new high price he needed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of the land investment, matching with customer demand, and discuss with the Board and ask for the support from the parent company. The success of the investment means that the company scale will be more than triple.\u00a0 The continuous growth in digital economy and demand for high quality data centres, especially since the new norm after pandemic, has proved that land acquisition as a wise forward-looking investment in end of 2018.\u00a0 That mega data centre will grand open in end of next year in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the maturity of 5G technology, all walks of life are now preparing for any possible changes in the upcoming years. The characteristics of 5G: high speed, low latency, and large-scale machine-type communication, has facilitated the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) in transportation and logistics, industrial manufacturing, and many other fields. Communication between devices generates data that provide insightful information for enterprises. Therefore, in the new 5G era, it is extremely important to have data centres as they provide reliable storage spaces for many uses. In addition to providing storage services, an excellent data centre also creates an ecosystem that allows different stakeholders to conduct transactions in it. Mr. Tong pointed out that there are 11 major submarine fibre cables connecting Hong Kong with rest of the world, out of which 9 of them have established points of presence in SUNeVision\u2019s data centres to facilitate the connection and used by corporate and business clients. The more customers there are in the data centre, the greater the network effect is, that is also why their data centres are superior to the others. Now, the company is building three new data centres, which will be completed in 2022 at the earliest. The company is also exploring the possibility of building data centres outside of Hong Kong as well to provide better and more comprehensive service for its customers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Tong received the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarships for Overseas Studies in Form six. Given that his family could not afford the cost to send him abroad, getting a scholarship was the key to realize his dream. He still vividly remembers that he needed to submit application with self-recommendation letter and attend interviews to explain his reasons and visions for studying university in the United States. He admitted that the scholarship has transformed his life tremendously. If he had not been awarded the scholarship, he would receive very different exposure and his career development would be very different. He also felt grateful for the Fund which agreed to extend the funding period when he needed additional funding to complete the double degrees.<\/span><\/p>\n

It has been nearly 30 years since winning the award, and Mr. Tong has also worked in and learnt from many different industries. He suggests everyone learning to adapt to the rapidly changing environment and working hard to build connections and reputation to be successful in the workplace.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u8077\u5834\u4e0a\uff0c\u8f49\u884c\u5f80\u5f80\u610f\u5473\u8981\u9069\u61c9\u65b0\u74b0\u5883\uff0c\u4ee4\u8a31\u591a\u4eba\u56e0\u800c\u537b\u6b65\u3002\u5c24\u5fb7\u7235\u58eb\u7d00\u5ff5\u57fa\u91d1\u6d77\u5916\u734e\u5b78\u91d11993\/94\u5e74\u5f97\u734e\u8005 \u2014 \u6e6f\u570b\u6c5f\u5148\u751f\u537b\u6191\u8457\u5feb\u901f\u5b78\u7fd2\u65b0\u4e8b\u7269\u7684\u80fd\u529b\u4ee5\u53ca\u591a\u5e74\u4f86\u5728\u8077\u5834\u4e2d\u5efa\u7acb\u7684\u4eba\u8108\uff0c\u5728\u904e\u53bb\u77ed\u77ed\u4e8c\u5341\u591a\u5e74\u9593\u5148\u5f8c\u6295\u8eab\u516d\u500b\u884c\u696d\u4e26\u7372\u5f97\u5353\u8d8a\u4f73\u7e3e\u3002\u76ee\u524d\u7684\u4ed6\u662f\u65b0\u610f\u7db2\u96c6\u5718\u6709\u9650\u516c\u53f8(1686.HK)\u7684\u884c\u653f\u7e3d\u88c1\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n

\u6e6f\u5148\u751f\u4e2d\u5b78\u6642\u671f\u5c31\u8b80\u65bc\u7687\u4ec1\u66f8\u9662\uff0c\u4e2d\u4e94\u6642\u6703\u8003\u6210\u7e3e\u512a\u7570\uff0c\u5152\u6642\u5922\u60f3\u5df2\u662f\u5230\u6d77\u5916\u5347\u5b78\u7684\u4ed6\uff0c\u6700\u7d42\u7372\u5f97\u8cd3\u5915\u6cd5\u5c3c\u4e9e\u5927\u5b78\u53d6\u9304\u3002\u57fa\u65bc\u5c0d\u6578\u5b78\u53ca\u5de5\u7a0b\u6fc3\u539a\u7684\u8208\u8da3\uff0c\u4ed6\u9996\u9078\u4e86\u4fee\u8b80\u96fb\u6a5f\u5de5\u7a0b\u79d1\uff0c\u5728\u5927\u5b78\u4e00\u5e74\u7d1a\u7684\u6642\u5019\u65c1\u807d\u904e\u4e00\u4e9b\u5546\u696d\u8ab2\u5802\u5f8c\uff0c\u4ed6\u6bc5\u7136\u6c7a\u5b9a\u540c\u6642\u5831\u8b80\u91d1\u878d\u79d1\uff0c\u5728\u56db\u5e74\u534a\u5167\u5b8c\u6210\u96d9\u5b78\u4f4d\u8ab2\u7a0b\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n

\u6e6f\u5148\u751f\u5728\u4e2d\u516d\u6642\u7372\u5f97\u5c24\u5fb7\u7235\u58eb\u7d00\u5ff5\u57fa\u91d1\u7684\u6d77\u5916\u734e\u5b78\u91d1\u3002\u7531\u65bc\u7236\u6bcd\u6c92\u6709\u80fd\u529b\u8ca0\u64d4\u4ed6\u5230\u6d77\u5916\u5347\u5b78\u7684\u8cbb\u7528\uff0c\u56e0\u6b64\u7372\u53d6\u734e\u5b78\u91d1\u662f\u4ed6\u552f\u4e00\u53ef\u4ee5\u5be6\u73fe\u76ee\u6a19\u7684\u9078\u9805\u3002\u4ed6\u9084\u8a18\u5f97\uff0c\u7576\u6642\u9700\u8981\u905e\u4ea4\u4e00\u4efd\u9644\u6709\u81ea\u85a6\u4fe1\u7684\u7533\u8acb\uff0c\u4e26\u51fa\u5e2d\u9762\u8a66\u95e1\u8ff0\u81ea\u5df1\u5230\u7f8e\u570b\u5347\u5b78\u7684\u539f\u56e0\u548c\u9858\u666f\u3002\u4ed6\u5766\u8a00\uff0c\u5c24\u5fb7\u7235\u58eb\u7d00\u5ff5\u57fa\u91d1\u6d77\u5916\u734e\u5b78\u91d1\u5f71\u97ff\u4e86\u4ed6\u7684\u4e00\u751f\uff0c\u82e5\u679c\u6c92\u6709\u7372\u9812\u734e\u5b78\u91d1\uff0c\u4ed6\u7684\u6240\u898b\u6240\u805e\u5c07\u6703\u5927\u76f8\u5f91\u5ead\uff0c\u4ed6\u7684\u4e8b\u696d\u767c\u5c55\u4e5f\u6703\u5f88\u4e0d\u4e00\u6a23\u3002\u4ed6\u4ea6\u5341\u5206\u611f\u6fc0\u57fa\u91d1\u6703\uff0c\u5728\u4ed6\u9700\u8981\u591a\u534a\u5e74\u6642\u9593\u5b8c\u6210\u96d9\u5b78\u4f4d\u6642\u540c\u610f\u5ef6\u9577\u8cc7\u52a9\u671f\u9650\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n

\u6e6f\u5148\u751f\u5f97\u734e\u81f3\u4eca\u7d93\u904e\u63a5\u8fd1\u4e09\u5341\u5e74\uff0c\u7576\u4e2d\u66fe\u6295\u8eab\u5728\u591a\u500b\u884c\u696d\u63a2\u7d22\u7814\u7fd2\u7684\u4ed6\u5bc4\u8a9e\u5927\u5bb6\uff0c\u8981\u5148\u5b78\u6703\u9069\u61c9\u6025\u901f\u8b8a\u5316\u7684\u74b0\u5883\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u52aa\u529b\u5efa\u7acb\u4eba\u969b\u7db2\u7d61\u548c\u826f\u597d\u8072\u8b7d\uff0c\u624d\u80fd\u5728\u8077\u5834\u4e0a\u53d6\u5f97\u6210\u529f\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n
