From the very beginning of my medical journey, I have been driven by a deep sense of purpose\u2014to serve patients at their most vulnerable moments and to contribute meaningfully to communities in need. My path has been shaped by experiences across continents, mentors who inspired in me perseverance, and opportunities that challenged me to grow both as a clinician and as a humanitarian.<\/span><\/p>\n

My education began in Toronto, Canada, where I spent my early childhood, before continuing my primary and secondary schooling in Hong Kong. In 2014, I graduated with honors from the University of Hong Kong\u2019s medical school, a milestone that marked the start of my professional journey. I then pursued specialty training in critical care medicine, a field that demands precision, resilience, and compassion. Recognizing the importance of broader systemic impact, I later completed a Master in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u6211\u5728\u52a0\u62ff\u5927\u591a\u502b\u591a\u5ea6\u904e\u4e86\u5e7c\u5e74\u6642\u5149\uff0c\u4e4b\u5f8c\u56de\u5230\u9999\u6e2f\u5b8c\u6210\u5c0f\u5b78\u53ca\u4e2d\u5b78\u6559\u80b2\u30022014 \u5e74\uff0c\u6211\u4ee5\u512a\u7570\u6210\u7e3e\u7562\u696d\u65bc\u9999\u6e2f\u5927\u5b78\u91ab\u5b78\u9662\uff0c\u9019\u6a19\u8a8c\u8457\u6211\u8077\u696d\u751f\u6daf\u7684\u958b\u59cb\u3002\u96a8\u5f8c\uff0c\u6211\u63a5\u53d7\u4e86\u91cd\u75c7\u91ab\u5b78\u7684\u5c08\u79d1\u57f9\u8a13\uff0c\u9019\u662f\u4e00\u500b\u9700\u8981\u7cbe\u6e96\u3001\u97cc\u6027\u8207\u540c\u7406\u5fc3\u7684\u9818\u57df\u3002\u5728\u6df1\u523b\u9ad4\u6703\u5230\u7cfb\u7d71\u6027\u5f71\u97ff\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u6027\uff0c\u6211\u65bc 2023 \u5e74\u5728\u502b\u6566\u885b\u751f\u8207\u71b1\u5e36\u91ab\u5b78\u9662\u53d6\u5f97\u516c\u5171\u885b\u751f\u78a9\u58eb\u5b78\u4f4d\u3002<\/p>\n

My career in critical care began in Hong Kong, where I treated patients one at a time in intensive care units. In 2021, after qualifying as a critical care physician, I joined M\u00e9decins Sans Fronti\u00e8res (Doctors Without Borders, MSF) and embarked on medical missions in Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan, Eswatini, and other regions. These missions allowed me to apply my skills in resource-limited settings, where the challenges were immense but the rewards of service were profound.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u6211\u7684\u91cd\u75c7\u91ab\u5b78\u751f\u6daf\u59cb\u65bc\u9999\u6e2f\u7684\u52a0\u8b77\u75c5\u623f\uff0c\u5728\u52a0\u8b77\u75c5\u623f\u4e2d\u9010\u4e00\u7167\u9867\u75c5\u4eba\u30022021 \u5e74\uff0c\u5728\u53d6\u5f97\u91cd\u75c7\u91ab\u5b78\u5c08\u79d1\u8cc7\u683c\u5f8c\uff0c\u6211\u52a0\u5165\u4e86\u300c\u7121\u570b\u754c\u91ab\u751f\u300d\uff08M\u00e9decins Sans Fronti\u00e8res, MSF\uff09\uff0c\u5c55\u958b\u5728\u4e5f\u9580\u3001\u4f0a\u62c9\u514b\u3001\u963f\u5bcc\u6c57\u3001\u65af\u5a01\u58eb\u862d\u53ca\u5176\u4ed6\u5730\u5340\u7684\u91ab\u7642\u4efb\u52d9\u3002\u9019\u4e9b\u4efb\u52d9\u8b93\u6211\u80fd\u5728\u8cc7\u6e90\u5331\u4e4f\u7684\u74b0\u5883\u4e2d\u904b\u7528\u5c08\u696d\u6280\u80fd\uff0c\u96d6\u7136\u6311\u6230\u5de8\u5927\uff0c\u4f46\u56de\u5831\u537b\u6df1\u523b\u800c\u73cd\u8cb4\u3002<\/p>\n

Working with MSF was a unique experience that tested both my technical expertise and my adaptability. Intensive care in such environments was often perceived as unattainable, yet I learned that with the right training and resources, many principles of acute care could be implemented effectively. Each mission presented different obstacles\u2014cultural nuances, limited infrastructure, and urgent medical needs\u2014but they also taught me invaluable lessons in humility, perseverance, and collaboration. No two situations were ever the same, and each demanded creativity, cultural sensitivity, and teamwork.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u5728\u7121\u570b\u754c\u91ab\u751f\u7684\u5de5\u4f5c\u7d93\u9a57\u662f\u4e00\u7a2e\u7368\u7279\u7684\u7d93\u6b77\uff0c\u65e2\u8003\u9a57\u4e86\u6211\u7684\u6280\u8853\u5c08\u696d\uff0c\u4e5f\u6311\u6230\u4e86\u6211\u7684\u9069\u61c9\u80fd\u529b\u3002\u5728\u9019\u6a23\u7684\u74b0\u5883\u4e2d\uff0c\u91cd\u75c7\u91ab\u7642\u5f80\u5f80\u88ab\u8996\u70ba\u9059\u4e0d\u53ef\u53ca\uff0c\u4f46\u6211\u767c\u73fe\uff0c\u53ea\u8981\u6709\u5408\u9069\u7684\u8a13\u7df4\u8207\u8cc7\u6e90\uff0c\u8a31\u591a\u6025\u75c7\u7167\u8b77\u7684\u539f\u5247\u4ecd\u80fd\u6709\u6548\u5be6\u65bd\u3002\u6bcf\u6b21\u4efb\u52d9\u90fd\u9762\u81e8\u8457\u4e0d\u540c\u7684\u6311\u6230\u2014\u2014\u6587\u5316\u5dee\u7570\u3001\u57fa\u790e\u8a2d\u65bd\u5331\u4e4f\u4ee5\u53ca\u7dca\u6025\u9700\u6c42\u8feb\u5728\u7709\u776b\u3002\u4f46\u6b63\u662f\u9019\u4e9b\u6311\u6230\uff0c\u6559\u6703\u4e86\u6211\u8b19\u905c\u3001\u5805\u6301\u548c\u5354\u4f5c\u3002\u6c92\u6709\u4efb\u4f55\u5169\u500b\u500b\u6848\u662f\u76f8\u540c\u7684\uff0c\u6bcf\u4e00\u7a2e\u60c5\u6cc1\u90fd\u9700\u8981\u5275\u9020\u529b\u3001\u6587\u5316\u654f\u611f\u5ea6\u548c\u5718\u968a\u5408\u4f5c\u7cbe\u795e\u3002<\/p>\n

Today, I continue to practice as an intensivist in a public hospital in Hong Kong, while also serving as an intensive care training advisor with MSF. My current role focuses on capacity building\u2014working alongside local colleagues to strengthen intensive care systems at institutional and population levels. Looking ahead, I hope to expand my efforts beyond individual patient care, contributing to sustainable improvements in emergency and critical care capacity across diverse contexts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The scholarship I received during my medical studies was pivotal in shaping my path. It gave me the opportunity to participate in my first medical volunteering trips, exposing me to the realities of low-resource settings. Confronted with my own deficiencies, I returned with a long list of skills to develop, motivated to equip myself to truly serve underserved communities. Over the past decade, that list has only grown longer with each mission, reminding me to stay humble yet inspired to keep learning. As Elif Shafak quoted, \u201cPatience does not mean to passively endure. It means to be farsighted enough to trust the end result of a process. It means to look at the thorn and see the rose, to look at the night and see the dawn.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
