Welcome to the Sir Edward Youde Scholars Association Award Gala Dinner 2025!
We are pleased to announce that the prestigious event will take place on Saturday, 31 May 2025, at the Fù Bar, MADAME FÙ, 3rd Floor, Barrack Block, Tai Kwun, No. 10 Hollywood Road, Central. Join us for an unforgettable evening of celebration, starting with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by a sumptuous dinner.
This year, we are honoured to have Prof. Yike Guo, Director of The Hong Kong Generative AI R&D Center (HKGAI), as our esteemed Keynote Speaker. Prof. Guo is a world-leading computer scientist with research focuses on machine learning and data mining for large-scale scientific applications. He has extensive experience in working with industries.
During the dinner, we will have the privilege of presenting the Golden and Silver SEYSA pins to our new and returning members. This special occasion will also commemorate the 33rd Anniversary of SEYSA, making it a truly remarkable celebration.
Prof. Yike Guo
Prof. Yike Guo serves as the Director of The Hong Kong Generative AI R&D Center (HKGAI), Provost of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Chair Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. He is a world-renowned computer scientist who has led several large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) and data science research projects in Hong Kong, the UK, and other European countries. Among his many other achievements, Prof. Guo won the 2022 Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award for Outstanding Contribution Award, which is considered to be the highest honor in the field of intelligent science and technology in China.
Under Prof. Guo’s leadership, HKGAI is the sole R&D center focusing on generative AI under InnoHK that is led by HKUST in collaboration on research with five top-tier universities in the region. Recently, the HKGAI V1 model was released, which is the first large language model developed in Hong Kong based on the full-parameter fine-tuning of DeepSeek, an AI chatbot, and continuous training, marking a major breakthrough in the field of local AI technology.
