I am very honoured to be the chair of SEYSA Disabled Students Group. The SEYSA Disabled Students Group was officially launched on 19 July 2013 under the leadership of the late Dr Christine Leung, the founder and previous Chair of SEYSA Disabled Students Group. I am pleased to be the successor of Christine.

The Group aims to encourage more disabled students to further their education and to assist them to have a better life. The mission of the Disabled Students Group is to form a bridge for friendship and network among SEYSA disabled awardee themselves and other SEYSA members; to develop mutual help between all parties as well as to see what SEYSA is able to assist their disabled awardees and to organise activities & events for the disabled awardees in consideration of their views and needs.

With Christine’s effort, the Group grows steady and did some amazing works within the Youder community. In the past few years, the Group has organised activities to the disabled awardees, Youders, and their families and friends. This included a “Making-Painting Your Own Hope Eggs” workshops in the Easter Holiday 2014, open to all members and friends, disabled and able-bodied alike. “Clay with Fun workshop” in June 2015, with Mr Terence Lee, a renowned painter and ceramic artist who shared his artistic experiences with the participants. Terence was also the sponsor and the mentor for these workshops. Some of selected pieces from the workshops was displayed at the Play Hub Expo at Macau’s Venetian Macao-Cotai Expo Hall in July 2015.

Being in this position allows me promoting social inclusion and to raise a voice for the disabled in our society. I am looking forward to using this opportunity to speak on behalf of the fellows of Disabled Students Group, raising their concerns about their necessities and difficulties of disabled students in the present education and helping others, as well as helping the disabled communities ourselves.

Yours sincerely

Dr Norman Wai Chung Siu
