Dear Youders and friends, old and new,

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Social Service team, a new initiative launched by SEYSA to bring Youders and our like-minded friends – from non-governmental organizations, associations, and schools – together in the service of greater community development.
In no uncertain terms, Hong Kong is changing. From the recent social movement to the Coronavirus-19 epidemic, and all other unlikely events that have impacted lives in Hong Kong, we are all trying our best to brave through the hardships of 2020. As we come to grips with the unexpected that lies ahead of us, I wish to draw your attention to those around you who, for reasons we may or may not be able to understand, could use a helping hand or perhaps some attention, love, and care to get by. In extraordinary times like this, it would do us all well to unite together and remind one another that the story of 2020 does not have to be one of division, despair, and aloofness. Rather, with hands to work and hearts for each other, we may be able to co-write a different story – one of solidarity, perseverance, and the goodwill of Hong Kong people.
As the old adage goes, ‘United we stand, divided we fall’. This year, with the unwavering support of the SEYSA Executive Committee, we have developed a full-fledged social engagement team to provide our members with opportunities to connect with and contribute to different communities in Hong Kong. Tentatively, the program schedule will feature at least one social service every two months. We will work closely with various community partners (e.g., those that concentrate on psycho-social health, environmental issues, the economically deprived, or the elderly) throughout Hong Kong to ensure that our members have opportunities to meaningfully apply their skills, knowledge, and expertise in ways that matter to those in-need.
All announcements and updates related to the Social Service team will be posted on this webpage.
Finally, I would like to thank all the Youder volunteers, community partners, and supporters in advance for their time, dedication, effort, care, and decision to support our social services. Let’s keep doing this together.

Yours,
Paul Vinod Khiatani, PhD
