Women in SEYSA “Run for Girls 2018”
On 29th April, the President Judy Tam represented the Association to be a corporate-female runner in the “Run For Girls Charity Run” at Hong Kong Science Park to support women empowerment – which marked the launch of Women in SEYSA. As our continuous commitment, SEYSA will keep on supporting the communities for a good cause

SEYSA Visit to HSBC Archive Tour
On 3rd May, the HSBC Archive Tour was specially arranged for our SEYSA members and friends to learn the development of HSBC and its successful building of Archive. Throughout the tour, participants had learnt a lot of good history and heritage of Hong Kong where many successful stories were developed and recorded.
We are grateful that the group of SEYSA members and friends enjoyed visit to HSBC Archives.

Youders’ Intelligence Members Reception Series (I)
Youder’s Intelligence Members Reception Series (I) was successfully held on 26th May 2018. The Series was newly introduced to SEYSA this year, aiming to invite our Youders or past awardees to have a speech for sharing their stories and inspiring members.
For the very first guest of the Youder’s Intelligence Series, we are delighted to invite our senior member, Mr Albert SU Yau-on, the Chief Executive of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs). Our members enjoyed a great time with who has become a Youder since he received the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowships for Post-graduate Research Students 1988/89.
Mr. SU looked back with us and shared a lot of good old times of the SEYSA family by showing us some authentic SEYSA’s publications and documents 20 years back. He then stepped forward to share what he is doing for the betterment of the society now at TWGHs.
“There are only two ways to live your life. One us as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” (生活的方式有兩種: 一個是當世界沒有任何奇蹟,另一個是當每件事都是奇蹟。) Mr. SU concluded his sharing with the inspirational quote from Albert Einstein, which motivated our Youders and friends so much.
We are truly grateful for having many Youders and friends who were inspired together in our very first Youder Intelligence Members Reception Series and we wish to see many more to join us.

Albert received the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowships in 1988/89. Since 2015, Albert has served as the Chief Executive of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals.

Oxbridge x Chevening x SEYSA Mixer Networking Drink
Having some past collaboration with other scholars associations, SEYSA had jointly organized a newly-introduced Mixer Networking Drink Session with our close scholar groups, British Chevening Scholars Hong Kong Association (BCSA) and Oxford and Cambridge Society of Hong Kong (Oxbridge). The session was held at the Studio, Central on 15 June 2018. SEYSA’s members pleasantly met scholar friends and reached out to diverse professional networks in the evening.

Youders’ Intelligence Members Reception Series (II) – Apprentice Chapter – Wilson Law: Coffee roastery Start-up Business
Having established a new Chapter – Apprentice Chapter, the coffee-themed Youders’ Intelligence Member Reception Series (II) was warmly introduced and successfully held on 7th July 2018. The sharing was conducted by our senior member Wilson Law, who are the Apprentice awardee of “Sir Edward Youde Memorial Awards for Self-Improvement for Working Adults” in 2016/17.
Members of SEYSA enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at Wilson’s homey coffee roastery- Beancup Coffee Roastery. Wilson shared and showed his expertise knowledge and skills on coffee brewing in which he has dedicated his effort to manage a self-running coffee roastery business in Hong Kong.
Wilson also shared stories of his life-changing careers, from achieving a position of Creative Director to continuously finding his next targets in life. He tried new challenges in riding mountain-bike, stepping out of the comfort zone to living in another corner of the world, and at present he is operating his own business in area that he endeavours to – coffee brewing. Indeed, these experiences showed his courage and positive mentality towards challenges in life.

Guest speaker: Mr. Wilson Law, Sir Edward Youde Memorial Awards for Self-Improvement for Working Adults in 2016/17
Mr. Wilson Law was a Creative Director in an advertisement firm, and an owner of an Arts Classroom. He then left his businesses and decided to work in the coffee industry. He studied as a coffee barista at the Integrated Vocational Development Centre (IVDC), and worked at the Coffee Pro. After he got the coffee certificates locally and internationally, he has been focusing on his coffee business and has established his own coffee roastery in Hong Kong. He received the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Awards for Self-Improvement for Working Adults in 2017.
Mr. Wilson Law showed his sincere and seriousness towards his profession in coffee-brewing with his practical show and tell.
Participants tasted many different handmade cups of coffee that was freshly-brewed with beans from different origins. They tasted fresh and fantastic!

TWGHs Maisy Ho Archives and Relics Centre
SEYSA Executive Committee members had an exclusive and fruitful afternoon on 28th July visiting TWGHs Maisy Ho Archives and Relics Centre, learning how to preserve historic documents and heritage. Having our early idea to archive SEYSA’s 25-year development, the the Committee commences to develop our own digital archives to record more than 25 years of SEYSA history, thanks the Chief Executives of TWGHs group, Mr. Albert SU and his team showcasing the operation of TWGHs Maisy Ho Archives and Relics Centre.

An Enlightening Kick-off Meetup for SEYSA’s Chapter Ten Mentorship Program
The very first SEYSA’s Chapter Ten Mentorship Program is newly-introduced to the Youders this year, we are delighted to have received significant amount of applications from the motivated minds who wish to be a mentee of the prestigious mentors. The Program kick-off meeting was successfully held on 22nd September at the City University of Hong Kong. In the pleasant afternoon, the 25 selected mentees from our Youder family enjoyed an enlightening meeting with their mentors, other mentees and the Ex-co members.
“Communication” was discussed in this Program workshop. The discussion aims to support the learning and development of mentees’ professional communication with their mentors. Mentees not only learned from our friendly reminder on their professional communication manner, they can engage themselves with the key concepts right away during the workshop.
Following motivational words from Prof. Christopher Chao, the Ice-Breaking session had engaged participants with full of interaction and laughter, the game enabled mentors and mentees to learn more about each other.
Especially, we are honoured to have our speakers Youder Mr. Nelson Yip and the Founder of Future City Summit, Mr. Andre Kwok for sharing their personal experience on the way to strive for their goals and success, the sharing is truly inspirational!
We would like to thank the panel of Youder mentors, including Youders Prof. Christopher Chao and Prof. Paul Luk and Mr. Nelson Yip for their presence to the session from their tight schedule.
“A good beginning makes a good ending”, the simple and meaningful start lays the groundworks for the fruitful learning and engagement between our mentors and mentees.
We are looking forward to meeting them again in the coming visit on 24th November, the Second Program workshop about Blog writing (date to be confirmed) and having their experience sharing at the Closing ceremony in March 2019. We see more mutual learning could come from the Chapter Ten Mentorship Program. Stay tuned with us!

Elderly Services with Run to Your Home (跑去你屋企)
Youders in action in today’s session of Elderly Services with Run to Your Home (跑去你屋企)
Our Youder volunteers are committed to visiting solitary elder in Wong Tai Sin in a period of 6 months as a group. We have built up good rapport relations and become friends with the elder. Through visiting the elderly; the activity also promotes health and sports messages to society. More of the elderly would be visited and surrounded with love and joy.
