Ms. Grace Lau

Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarship for Undergraduate Students in 1987/88

Ms. Grace Lau is the Executive Director of Risk and Compliance Department in the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. Ms. Lau obtained her Bachelor of Social Sciences degree from the University of Hong Kong in 1988, a Master degree in Economics from the University of Hong Kong in 1992 and another Master degree in Investment Management in 1998 from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Ms. Lau began her career in the Hong Kong Monetary Authority in 1994, working in various functional areas including monetary policy, economic and market research, market systems policy, banking development and securities enforcement. Currently, Ms. Lau is responsible for the oversight of investment risks and other risk-generating activities across the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. She oversees the monitoring and controlling of market, credit, liquidity and operational risks arising from the investment process of the foreign reserves of Hong Kong, and supports the work of the Risk Committee.

Dr. Alex Hui

Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarships for Overseas Studies 1988/89

Dr Alex Yui Hui graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1993 and received basic physician training in teaching hospitals in England. In 1998, he returned to Hong Kong and joined the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics in Prince of Wales Hospital to receive specialist training. He was admitted to the fellowships of the Hong Kong College of Physicians and Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in 2002. In the same year, he was awarded the Silver Medal for best dissertation by the Hong Kong College of Physicians. He is currently a private practitioner in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and a Clinical Associate Professor (Honorary) in the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics of the CUHK.

Before entering private practice in 2005, Dr Hui took part in many research projects and drug trials whilst working in Prince of Wales Hospital. His main areas of research included peptic ulcer disease, colon cancer, liver fibrosis, complications of cirrhosis, natural history and treatment of chronic hepatitis B and C. He was a reviewer of scientific journals including Liver International, Journal of Hepatology and Laboratory Investigation and has published 70 articles in international peer-reviewed journals and two book chapters. Dr Hui is currently a council member of the British Medical Association (Hong Kong), Association of Private Medical Specialists of Hong Kong and a committee member of the Health and Education Committee of the Hong Kong Liver Foundation.

Mr. Dominic Wai

Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarships for Undergraduate Students 1993/94
 

Before joining the legal profession, Dominic has worked in the banking sector and as well as in the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC).
Dominic’s practice focuses on advising clients on matters relating to anti-corruption, white-collar crime, law enforcement, regulatory and compliance matters in Hong Kong, including advice on anti-money laundering. He also handles cases involving corporate litigation, shareholders’ disputes and insolvency matters, defamation cases, domestic and international arbitration cases, cybersecurity, data security and privacy law issues, competition law matters, e-Discovery and forensic investigation issues as well as property litigation.
Dominic is currently a board member of a charity that provides a home service for sick children and their families. He is supportive and actively participating in the activities of the charity

Ms. Wendy Yuen

Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarships for Undergraduate Students 1993/94

Wendy is currently the Head of Retail Distribution of Hang Seng Bank Ltd. She has been working in the banking industry for over 25 years. In her previous job roles, she has covered a wide range of duties under Commercial Banking including overseas branches (Macau branch and Taiwan Representative office), Asset Management overseeing market research, investment advisory, derivatives products structuring & development, broking business and investment funds, etc. She is currently serving HK Government as a member of the Customs and Excise Service Children’s Education Trust Fund Committee, member of the Occupational Safety and Health Council, panel member of the Securities and Futures Appeals Tribunal, General Committee of FHKI and the member of Trade and Industrial Organisation Support Fund. She is a member of The Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference – Liaoning Province, Shenyang. The member of Honours Academy Board, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. She received BSc degree (First Class of Honor) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, a Master degree of Cornell University USA, EMBA from Kellogg – the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She is also a CFA and Certified Banker (CB).

Dr. Lydia Leung

Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowships 1998/99
 

Dr. Lydia Leung is currently Chief Executive Officer of Belun Technology, which is in the frontier of medical-grade screening devices and cloud-based AI platform for sleeping disorder, respiratory and cardiovascular related diseases. Belun Technology is the awardees of the Red Dot Design Award, Hong Kong ICT Awards 2018: Award of the Year, Grand Awards of both Smart Living and Start-Up of, Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Award 2018 and Global ICT excellence award 2020. Prior to joining Belun Technology, she was Director of the Opto-Electronic Technology Division at ASTRI. During her stay with ASTRI, she established the medical/healthcare electronic team and spearheaded its development. She was responsible for the strategic planning, R&D, patent portfolio, design, development and marketing of medical/healthcare electronic devices and telecare/telehealth system for chronic disease management. She is now serving as the Deputy Chairman of Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industry Association, Advisory Committee Member of HKTDC Electronics/Electrical Appliances Industries, Advisory Committee Member of HKTDC ICT Services and Executive Committee Member of Raleigh Hong Kong.

Dr. Leung received her Ph.D., M.Phil. and B.Eng. degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She also holds a M.Sc. degree in Marketing from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She has published over 30 journals and conference papers. She is co-author of a book chapter and also owner of more than 20 US/China patents.

Mr. Vincent Cheng

Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowships in 1999/2000

Mr. Vincent Cheng is the Principal of Jockey Club Ti-I College. Before joining the education field, He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biochemistry at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).

Later, he began his teaching career as a secondary school teacher in St. Mark’s School. He was then invited to be the Vice-principal of King Ling College and became the Principal of Jockey Club Ti-I College five years ago.

Mr Cheng is an active advocate of Extracurricular Activities (ECA), having actively participated in ECAs when he was a student. He strongly believes ECAs inspires his students and has been the ECA coordinator since he started teaching. Mr Cheng has a wide range of interests and hobbies, including hiking, camping, cycling, kayaking and diving.

Dr. Edmond Tsang

Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowships in 2000/01

Dr. Edmond Tsang, Cantopop writer, arranger, and producer, has worked with various Hong Kong artists, including Hins Cheung, Denise Ho, Andy Lau, Hacken Lee, and Joey Yung. He has produced such award-winning songs as I Know Not How to Sing《我不會唱歌》, Rolls Royce《勞斯.萊斯》, and Spring and Autumn《春秋》. After attaining his Doctor of Philosophy in History from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, he published a monograph on the development of the two earliest political parties in Hong Kong, which was selected by the Commercial Press as one of the “Books of 2019”. He is now a Lecturer at the Baptist University of Hong Kong.

Mr. Jin Pao, SC

Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowships for Overseas Studies 2001/02

Jin Pao SC is a senior counsel with a practice in civil law and judicial review. He has been in practice as a barrister continuously from Temple Chambers in Hong Kong since 2013, and has also served as a Deputy High Court Judge at the Court of First Instance. With the generous support of the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship for Overseas Studies in 2001, Jin completed his LLM degree at Harvard Law School after his LLB at the University of Hong Kong. Jin also teaches Administrative Law for the JD program at the University of Hong Kong.

Mr. Vivek Mahbubani

Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarships for Undergraduate Students 2004/05
 

Vivek Mahbubani is a Hong Kong-bred bilingual stand-up comedian performing in both Cantonese and English.
Having been crowned the Funniest Person (in Chinese) in Hong Kong in 2007 followed by his victory in the English category at the Hong Kong International Comedy Competition in 2008, Vivek has had the opportunity to take his sense of humor all over the world including Hong Kong,
China, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Australia, Canada and USA.
Having been ranked as the top comedian in Hong Kong, in 2014, the World Famous Laugh Factory in USA ranked Vivek as one of the top 10 comedians in their Annual Funniest Person in the World Competition.
In 2015, he was handpicked as one of the comedians to represent Asia’s best in Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s inaugural “Comedy Zone Asia” shows.
In 2016, he was featured in Comedy Central’s first ever “Stand up Asia!” shows. One of Vivek’s passions is reading and his favorite book is Sun Tzu’s Art of War. Oddly, his favorite color is hot pink.

Mr. Gary Leung

Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarships for Undergraduate Students 2004/05
 

Gary is the Head of Operational Planning Department of The Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd. (“KMB”), the largest franchised bus operator in Hong Kong.

Gary joined KMB in 2013 as a full-time Bus Captain. He subsequently transferred to the back office of KMB to work on bus network planning and restructuring. Gary also served as the project managers of various special projects, including the KMB Monthly Pass which was introduced in 2018. He currently oversees the planning, scheduling and rostering sections of KMB.

Prior to joining KMB, Gary was a Manager of the Valuation and Modelling Section (Corporate Finance) of KPMG. He graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with BSc in Quantitative Finance in 2008.
